Q. What Is Fiesta Musical?

A. Fiesta Musical is a weekly Tejano Music Radio show that strives to take Tejano to the Future by playing young up and coming artists while mixing in the good ole favorites that you've grown to love.

Q. When are you on?

A. Fiesta Musical airs every Monday night from 7-10 PM central time.

Q. How can I listen to you?

A. If you live in the Kansas City area, you can hear us on KKFI, 90.1FM. If you live outside of the terrestrial listening area you can check is out online at www.kkfi.org or www.fiestamusical.net

Q. Who hosts the show?

A. Dan The Man Ramirez, DJ Rimto, IV Garza, and Tomas "DJT" Pacheco

Q. Why are you guys always asking for money?

A. We are not always asking for money, but we do hold fundraisers every season, nearly three times a year. The reason that we do this is because we are a totally independent, non-commercial, community radio station. That means that we do the show on a voluntary basis and strictly out of a passion for the music that we play. Since we are non-commercial, funds need to come in to sustain the cost of running a full 100,000 watt FM radio station. In order to continue doing what we do, we rely on avid listeners like yourselves to provide the financial support that we need to pay the bills. Keep in mind that your contribution does not go into our pockets, but do go to pay for the utilities and equipment needed to continue broadcasting.

Q. Who is DJ Ritmo? Are you trying to kick Dan off the show?

A. DJ Ritmo is a mobile DJ and Tejano music activist from the Topeka area. Tomas brought him to the show to add some appeal to the younger audience and utilize his expertise and connections in the Tejano Music industry. DJ Ritmo shares Tomas's vision of finding ways to expand our listening audience and promote growth in Tejano music in general. His addition to the show did not come without controversy. DJ Ritmo is a colorful character who is not afraid to speak his mind when needed, but was never intended to become a Dan the Man replacement like some people claim. Dan the Man is our most popular character on the show and will always be a vital part of the product that we bring every Monday night.

Q. Did you kick IV off the show?

A. Once again, the controversy follows me. I have not and never will "kick" any of our characters off the show. Since we are volunteers, we tend to put our personal commitments to our families first. IV has several family commitments and travels frequently to visit his family. That is why he is not in studio every week. He tends to come in opposite weeks of DJ Ritmo, but this is not always the case. IV is our resident historian and we need him to keep us "Kansas Boyz" in line.

Q. I heard a song on your show that I love. Will you burn me a cd of it?

A. HELL NO!!! We hate to be mean, but we respect the artist's right to their music. Burning a cd would be piracy. We feel that the artists should be compensated for the hard work that they put forth composing and recording the new music that we enjoy. Piracy impedes the artist's ability to continue to bring new music to us. Look at it this way. If you invented a new product but lost money every time you put this product on the market, would you continue manufacturing this product? Probably not. This is what happens when you burn a cd from your favorite artists. We will gladly sell you a legit copy of the album. Please visit our cd sales page for more information. Q. What are the Ritmo awards?

A. The Ritmo awards are an annual awards show that airs around August to commemorate the anniversary of the Fiesta Musical show. It is our way of poking fun of the numerous award shows and polls that are out there on the internet. Although, it is a legit award and certificates are issued, the criteria for winning the award are based on the show's characters personal opinion. This "awards show" was created as a bit of sarcasm after Tomas & DJ Ritmo visited the residences of several artists and found that their awards were nothing more than a paperweight or an object collecting dust in a back closet. We intended this bit to be a wake up call to the industry to say that there needs to be unity and creation of our version a coveted award such as the Grammy or American Music Award instead of several awards that mean nothing or nobody really cares about. The Ritmo awards fall in the category of awards that nobody cares about, but they are alot of fun to present. The artists that are presented with Ritmo awards are by no means being made fun of. They are the artists the we feel are deserving of the recognition and we intend to bring them to the forefront.
