Latin Express to Headline St. John's Fiesta In Lawrence, KS

St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence Kansas will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of their Fiesta Mexicana. The event starts Saturday June 10 with the parade. The free entertainment will be held on June 23 & 24 at the church grounds, 1234 Kentucky Street in Lawrence Kansas. Entertainment for Friday June 23 includes: St. John’s Fiesta Dancers, the dance group Fiesta Folklorica and Las Estrellas from Kansas City. Saturday June 24 features: Mariachi Habaneros, carnival games, Fiesta Folklorica and The Latin Express from the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The Latin Express Band has been called "Old School for the New School" by many. The band has been together and active for nearly 30 years and have recorded with Tejano legends such as Ruben Ramos & Sunny Ozuma. Topeka Fiesta 2006 Headliners Announced

Last week the 2006 Fiesta Mexicana Headliners and schedules were announced. This year the fun begins with the Fiesta Parade on July 7 at 8:30. Following the parade will be a performance by up and coming Tejano artist Xtremo from Big Springs, TX. The Coronation ball will take place the next day, July 8 the Kansas Expocentre Ag Hall from 8:30-Midnight. The Dance, which coronates the Fiesta Royalty will feature local favorites Paradize Band, which will be celebrating their 30 year anniversary, and Jr. Vargas Y Picante. On Sunday, July 9, the Opening Mass will take place at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church at 10am. Then, the entertainment begins on Tuesday July 11-Saturday July 15. The lineup Tuesday through Thurday features many local favorites including: Manana Band, Las Estrellas, Big Boys Party Band, Jr. Vargas & Picante, Bop Daddies, Two Classics, Johnny Jaramillo and Orlando Zuniga, Velvet Blues Review, Mariachi Habanero, Mariachi Estrellas, and more. An American Idol style competition will be held on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday features Grupo Lumbre from Texas and Grammy Award Winner Sunny Sauceda. On Saturday, the legend, Ruben Ramos, returns to Topeka to close the fiesta. Fiesta Musical personalities, Tomas and DJ Ritmo, will serve as MC's on Friday and Saturday. Los Super Vatos Headed to Salina, KS

That's right. It's been almost a year since those crazy guys, Los Super Vatos have been in Kansas. If you missed the show in Kansas City, here's your chance to see what you were missing.
